2016 Chevrolet Impala

Sometimes you just have to buy a larger sedan in order to give you the driving comfort you desire.  As much as some of the compacts and midsized sedans try and tell you they are roomy and comfortable size does certainly matter when it comes to the ability to stretch out and enjoy the ride on any road.  With that in mind, the Chevrolet Impala comes into 2016 as a stylish, roomy, comfortable and still dynamic family sedan that many have loved for years.  The Impala gives you some features you won’t find in other sedans and certainly takes control of its segment by continuing to be one of our favorites.

What you might not expect from the Impala is the quickness that is offered.  With the V6 engine this car can reach sixty mph in less than seven seconds which makes it a quick large sedan that still have the great handling and control for you to enjoy.  Not only can you enjoy the great ride of this car you will also have the ability to feel great inside the car and have plenty of fun features and a quiet ride to create your own great oasis away from the rest of the world.

Looking at some of the great features the Impala has to offer the list of standard features includes a power driver’s seat, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, a six-speaker audio system with USB and auxiliary ports and a 4.2-inch color display.  Moving up through the trim levels can bring in standard dual zone climate control, an eight-inch color infotainment scree, Bluetooth audio streaming, leather upholstery, push button starting and heated front seats.  This nice list makes the Impala a sedan you really want to take for a drive and never stop.

Of course if you are looking for a bit more from your Impala the optional features include a navigation system, a rearview camera, keyless entry, keyless starting, a heated steering wheel, a power tilt/telescoping steering column, heated and ventilated front seats, a Bose surround sound audio system, the Chevy MyLink system, built in Wi-Fi hotspot, ten airbags, traction control, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and lane departure alerts.  With these features aboard your Impala you can certainly feel as if the car is more of a luxury model than most other large sedans in this class.

Looking to what power the Impala the base engine is a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine giving you 196 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine is attached to the six-speed automatic transmission which is found on both engines offered to give you a fuel mileage of 22 city/31 hwy mpg.  While not the most powerful this powertrain is energetic enough to be great to drive and will let you have some fun when driving while enjoying the fuel mileage benefit of a large sedan with a dynamic powertrain driving it down the road.

The next engine is a 3.6-liter V6, this is the one that can make the sprint mentioned previously, and gives you a full 305 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque.  Using the same transmission the fuel mileage comes in at 19 city/29 hwy mpg to make the decision difficult since it is so close to the base engine in this category.  This engine can also be set up as a bi-fuel engine.  In this form the gasoline power will give you 260 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque.  The CNG operation offers 230 horsepower and 218 lb.-ft. of torque.  This set up will offer you fuel mileage of 17 city/25 hwy for gasoline and 16 city/24 hwy for the CNG. With this final setup you can enjoy a range of nearly 650 miles on a full tank of both to make it easy to take a long ride.

Every car offers something new each year and the Impala is no different at all.  The upgrades for 2016 include the ability to use Apple’s CarPlay, have a wireless charger for mobile devices, a few new colors to choose from, leather seating on the LT trim and the Midnight Edition makes it way to the LTZ level.  These additional features certainly make the Impala even more of a favorite than it was before.

All these great features and a powerful engine must cost a lot right?  Wrong, the base Impala will start around $28,000 for the LS model and the V6 comes in at $31,200 but can easily make it up to the low $40,000 range with some added features.  Opting for the bi-fuel set up will start the car just above $38,300 but give you a fantastic range to enjoy.  At the base price the Impala undercuts the competition easily to give you a car you really want to drive and know you got a great value.

Of course we must also look at the inside of this awesome car now that we know all about the features, power and pricing.  What you will certainly enjoy at every price point is the fact the Impala feel luxurious even though it’s a mainstream car.  With outstanding materials and a dramatic design to the cabin this car offers a lot to love from every trim level.  Of course if you choose to move up trims you really are gaining a luxury car, but don’t tell anyone, that seems to be Chevrolet’s secret.

When you see an Impala you will notice the attractive and stylish front fascia the character lines that are cut into the hood and along the lower part and belt line of the body and wonder why you haven’t ever bought one before.  This car with HID and LED headlights and daytime running lights along with its selection of eighteen to twenty inch wheels makes it easy to enjoy the look and shouts out to you to drive it.  Well, what are you waiting for, get out there and test drive the Impala, you will certainly find yourself ready to buy this beauty after only a few minutes behind the wheel.
