When you hear others talk about the Taurus many times it’s in the past tense, but the Taurus is a car that continues to give you the drive and features you want today. While there is not a hybrid version of the Taurus, this large sedan has been one that fits families well and gives you the space you want to enjoy for just about every adventure you can think of. The Taurus does have a sport version in the form of the SHO model that offers you the drive you want to have a bit more fun on the road.

The Taurus is a sold car that offers you the security of a large sedan that has more space than you are used to from any sedan. This is a comfortable car that you can enjoy cruising along just about any road you can find. With a few different engine options this could be the car that is right for you. For 2016 the Taurus adds the Sync 3 infotainment system and leaves the MyFord Touch behind. The SE adds a standard rearview monitor to give you more safety from this trim level.

The Taurus is a car that has been a confident drive that gives you value. The comfort is amazing and the drive is soft and supple to make it easy for your passengers to take a nap if they choose to without the worry of being jarred awake from a terrible ride. This car can handle the curves and corners of the world to give you even more confidence on any road. Whenever you have a larger sedan, which the Taurus is, you need some added control features and for this car that is the Torque Vectoring and Curve Control help that is offered to ensure you can have a car that is perfect for any ride.

Under the hood of this car we do enjoy three different engines to have a great ride. The base model is the 3.5-liter V6 which comes in with 288 horsepower and 254 lb.-ft. of torque. All version of the Taurus are equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission which allows for 18 city/27 hwy mpg for the FWD version and 17 city/24 hwy mpg for the AWD model. This gives you a great powertrain to enjoy and have the power and fuel mileage you can enjoy on your large sedan.

The next engine used on the Taurus is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that makes 240 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. With the transmission added to the engine you will enjoy a fuel mileage of 20 city/29 hwy mpg for this model. At the top of the line the SHO uses the base engine but adds twin turbocharging and steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The fuel mileage that is offered for this model comes in at 16 city/24 hwy mpg and has AWD as a standard feature offered for this sportier version of the car.

When you step inside the Taurus there is a lot of room, but a cozy feeling as well, giving you the feeling you want. When you need to drive a long distance this is a car that makes those long journeys more enjoyable than any others. Some of the models even offer a massage for the front seats which also offer a heating and cooling feature. The technology includes voice commands and a full menu of control features to make this a car you will want to drive and enjoy the full array of information that keep you alert and ready.

On the outside the Taurus continues to offer us the size we have loved while also showing us the style we can enjoy. With so many other cars adding bends and folds to be the most stylish, the Taurus offers a simple and smooth style that is highly recognizable as the Taurus. There is a large twenty-cubic foot trunk for you to put as much stuff as you can inside this amazing cavernous space. The low and sloping style of the Taurus is one that lets you admire the car from just about every angle that you can see it from.

The Taurus comes with a great menu of standard equipment which includes a rearview camera, the Ford Sync 3 system, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a power driver’s seat, steering wheel controls for the audio and cruise, power windows with the one touch up and down feature, the programmable MyKey system and a six-speaker audio system that has a CD player and an auxiliary input. The safety of this car comes in with electronic traction and stability control, several airbags and driver information systems. This menu makes it so you can have a great ride right from the start with this car.

The optional features found on the Taurus include several different items which include the power moonroof, keyless entry, push button ignition, massaging front seats, automatic high beam headlights, a heated steering wheel, rain sensing wipers, an adaptive cruise control, collision warnings, a twelve-speaker premium Sony audio system, a blind spot detection system, cross traffic alerts and much more. You can easily make the Taurus feel a lot like a luxury vehicle to give your entire family a much better ride than you would have from the simple base model that might leave you wanting.

When you look at the Taurus and realize it’s a large sedan that should cost much more than it does. The Taurus comes in at the SE level at a price around $28,000 with the SEL which is the mid-level model that comes in around $30,500 with the Limited model showing up at the top level of around $35,300. Upgrading the engine will add $1,000 to the price and the AWD will cost you around $1,900 but both will give you some great improvements and more enjoyment on the road at an affordable price. The Taurus may be getting long in the tooth, but it’s still one of our favorite cars to drive; isn’t it time you bought one for yourself?
