10.21.16 - 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack

Subaru has been admired on the market for several years because of the inclusion of AWD across the lineup with the BRZ being the only exception. Knowing when you buy a Subaru that you have the advantage of full-time AWD to help make it easier for you to enjoy driving and have the control you want to enjoy makes this a lineup that is easy to choose from and have the vehicle you want. So far there hasn’t been a lineup that could compete with what Subaru has to offer, but now it seems there will at least one automaker who will take a shot.

Volkswagen has been in the news for a variety of reasons lately. Most recently they’ve announced the development of a modular platform that will allow them to build a full lineup of electric assist vehicles to be added to their lineup over the next several years. Now it seems they have their sights set on producing a vehicle that could easily compete with Subaru on the market and give us a car that makes a huge difference. This new car will be built off one of our already familiar favorites to make it even better.

The car that will be used for this new AWD competitor will be the Golf hatchback. By adding AWD that has been developed in the Puebla manufacturing facility in Mexico and now called the 4Motion AWD the possibilities for VW have been increased dramatically. The first idea is to take the standard Golf and add AWD to the built and give it a new name. This will be an AWD version and will be added to the already newly launched AWD version of the Golf SportWagen which is called the Alltrack.

Now that AWD is becoming part of what Volkswagen will offer in their lineup the possibilities of adding this to every car in their lineup are certainly present. We may see AWD on ever VW in the near future which will make it a lineup that will possibly push Subaru out the door in some markets. Right now, even after some of the recent negative news for Volkswagen, there are more VW models sold in the US than there are Subaru models. The focus on AWD will certainly give us even more activity and enjoyment with our VW models and we will soon get a taste of what VW AWD is all about.

The new Volkswagen Golf Alltrack will launch in October and give us the newest in a lineup of vehicles that are meant to turn our heads and remind us why we love our VW models. With Subaru and Volkswagen going head to head it will be easy to see differentiations in the build characteristics, style and drive quality between these two brands. The question for you is which brand is going to be the one you choose in the future? If VW can have an AWD system as good as what Subaru offers, you just might want to enjoy the VW models.
