2016 Chevrolet Colorado

When you buy a new truck you could have a several different functions in mind for this great new vehicle of yours.  Many trucks are bought for the purpose of being a great addition to the work force on the job site and are nearly as valuable as a great craftsman on the job, other times these trucks are bought as daily drivers that offer the ride and space you want to get to and from work on a daily basis.  If you are regularly called upon to haul items with you a truck may be the right choice for you, but you also may want to enjoy some good fuel mileage; for 2016 here are the most fuel efficient models.

Nissan Frontier Crew CabThe Frontier in this cab style can be a fantastic choice for you to be able to take the crew with you to any location.  This truck is good for off roading and has been the choice of some rescue organizations.  Powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine that produces 261 horsepower this truck will give you the fuel mileage of 17 city/22 hwy mpg to keep you driving longer than some larger models.

GMC Sierra 1500 Crew CabThis full size truck might surprise you that its more efficient than the Frontier but with the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 engine under the hood producing 285 horsepower you will have fuel mileage of 18 city/24 hwy mpg.  Not only do you have an increase in the fuel numbers but there is more space inside this truck to let you enjoy more comfort and capability.

Ford F150 Regular Cab –There is a lot to be said for a cab that is of the traditional style and when that full size pickup can produce fuel mileage of 18 city/25 hwy mpg you can certainly get a lot out of the truck in between each fill up.  The 282 horsepower for this truck come from the 3.5-liter V6 engine to ensure you have the horses you need to get the job done and still feel confident driving daily.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab – In the same fuel mileage range as the previous two, the Silverado in its regular cab form has been a workhorse for many generations of Americans.  This model for 2016 is powered by  the same engine as the Sierra already mentioned, producing the same power and fuel mileage to make the decision one of cab configuration rather than  performance.

Toyota Tacoma Double Cab – When it’s an off road beast you want the Tacoma has been called upon more often for this duty than any other truck on the market.  Powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that brings in 278 horsepower this Double Cab version allows you to bring along some friends for the fun and enjoyment that lasts longer when you have fuel mileage numbers of 19 city/24 hwy mpg to enjoy.

Toyota Tacoma Access CabOffering a slight difference in the fuel numbers, this smaller version of the Tacoma is an extended cab for more space that uses a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine producing 159 horsepower.  While this truck won’t tow a great deal of stuff to any location this is a highly capable machine that offers you 19 city/23 hwy mpg to be enjoyed.

GMC Canyon Crew CabOn the highway this is the most efficient model on this list so far at 20 city/27 hwy mpg.  With a smaller build than the Sierra, the Canyon offers space enough for four to ride comfortably and enjoy the performance of the 2.5-liter VVT four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower.  This truck is great as a daily commuter or as a workhorse to perform the lighter jobs.

Ford F150 Super Cab – Rather than a Crew Cab, the Super Cab has room for passengers but is not quite as big.  What is great about this truck is the 2.7-liter twin turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that produces the 325 horsepower and offers up the fuel mileage of 19 city/26 hwy to be enjoyed.  This is the most powerful truck on the list so far, giving us the best of both worlds from the awesome EcoBoost.

Chevrolet Colorado Extended CabMatching the F150 EcoBoost for fuel mileage is this midsized truck from Chevrolet.  This is the truck most chosen as a commuter truck for the efficiency offered and the size.  When you want a great truck with good fuel mileage this one offers you the benefit of the 2.5-liter four-cylinder VVT engine that produces 200 horsepower and gives you 19 city/26 hwy mpg to enjoy.

Chevrolet Colorado Crew CabWhat’s amazing about this truck is the fact it’s using the same powertrain as the Extended Cab but is more efficient.  In this way you can bring more people with you in a comfortable manner to enjoy the ride and have the benefit of 20 city/27 hwy mpg to match the Canyon Crew Cab.  Once again GM has made it a choice of cabs, not a choice of powertrains to make shopping for the right truck a little easier.
