11.04.16 - Nürburgring

One of the most famous test tracks in the world is found in the hills of Germany and is called Nurburgring. This track is one of the few that is open to the public to drive as a toll road in some sections and in others is a narrow and harrowing place that drivers can test their metal against others and see just how good their skills and their cars are on the track that has challenged many over the history of the automobile industry.

Nurburgring is a great track for you to come and see a race, just head out to watch some testing on any day or to see what your car can do. Amazingly there are places along the track that are so narrow it appears that only one car should try and fit through the corridor, but when it comes to racing and trying to best the driver next to you, many drivers and cars will push the limits and try and make the pass. This track nearly always makes a mistake be punished in some way. It doesn’t matter if you bring a car that’s not up to the task or you hesitate just a little, when weakness shows, Nurburgring strikes.

Nicknamed the “Green Hell” Nurburgring has claimed more than its fair share of cars in crashes and unfortunately has claimed many injuries and a few lives. This video thankfully only has vehicles as the victims and not any of the drivers at all. As you see the corridor that is caught on camera the hill is steep, the track is slick and the road narrow, making it extremely difficult for any driver, even the most experienced ones to be able to navigate through this area of track without crashing into the barriers along the track.

Now that you know the video doesn’t have any fatalities involved, you can enjoy the many minutes of crashes along the track and see how this track claims cars and vans of different shapes and sizes. Some vehicles claimed you look at and wonder why it’s even on such as track while others you wonder how the vehicle was claimed at all because the car was built to race and made for a track like this. Certainly the driver only made one small error or didn’t have fresh rubber under themselves in order for this track to take full advantage of the small mistake.

After you enjoy the gleefulness of watching these crashes, which is a bit disturbing, but you know you enjoyed them, it might be time for you to schedule your trip to Germany and see how you do when faced with the most famous test track in the world. Head on over and see what Nurburgring has to offer you, even if all you do is watch some of the racing at the track or take a walk around a couple curves to feel and see what this track is all about, any visit to Nurburgring is well worth it, even if you end up walking away from another car that the “Green Hell” gobbled up.
