2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The C-Class from Mercedes-Benz has been around for a while and offered plenty of fantastic luxury features and benefits to owners during its lifespan. For 2015 the C-Class has received a complete makeover, allowing it to stand above the competition found in the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and Lexus IS. Part of the makeover was to make this car larger than before but also lighter, no mean feat, but the engineers and designers at Mercedes-Benz made it happen. As the entry level sedan from Mercedes-Benz, the 2015 starts off with the C300 and C400 models with an expansion to a coupe, wagon and AMG versions on the board for the next model year.

Offering much of the traditional luxury that Mercedes-Benz owners have gotten used to over the years with the excellent interior and highly engaging performance the C-Class offer a fantastic drive and the knowledge to owners that they have chosen one of the most finely tuned cars in this price range. With the new design for 2015, the C-Class lost 220 pounds while gaining 3.7 inches in length. This allows for more interior room and a fuel efficiency that has increased as much as 20 percent, both are features many car owners desire.

Even though the C-Class has been an attractive offering for a while, it was never really one to have an abundance of athleticism. With its weight loss and the outstanding suspension system it now has the capability to offer an exciting and enjoyable ride to anyone who chooses to drive this car. Add a steering system that gives feedback instantly and any driver will feel confident taking this car on any road and being able to stay up at the posted speeds. Of course the drive wouldn’t be complete without some music to listen to and the C-Class includes a very quiet cabin so all occupants can enjoy every lyric or note from their favorite songs.

With two engines found in the C-Class, hence the two different models, owners can choose between some power and fuel efficiency. Both models are paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and attached to the 4Matic all-wheel drive. Other engine models such as the diesel, hybrid and AMG will come around in the next model year along with the options to have rear-wheel drive instead of the all-wheel drive, but for now the two engines offered are both excellent choices.

The first engine offered is the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that shows up with 241 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. When attached to the transmission this model shows up with a fuel efficiency of 24 city/31 hwy mpg. The second one offers more power and coms in as a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine and carrying up to 329 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque. This powertrain gives a fuel efficiency of 21 city/29 hwy mpg. In either form, the C-Class pair of engines gives plenty of whatever the owner finds most important, either fuel efficiency or power.

With one of the most inviting interiors on the market, the C-Class makes a huge change from the old interior that was cold and clinical. The inclusion of soft and cozy materials along with wood and aluminum trim features that give pleasure to the eye along with some awesome upscale technology such as the touchpad that responds to swipes and handwriting help with the modern and high class feel of the cabin. The air conditioner even offers a fragrance diffuser that adds perfume to the surrounding smell of the car. Of course, with its greater length the space offered is extremely enjoyable giving room to stretch out.

On the outside the C-Class is unmistakably luxurious. The body work offers intricate lines that run the length of the vehicle and gives the look of a long, lean and capable performer. The front of the C-Class offers a horizontal grill that is situated with a shapely surrounding and oval shaped swept back headlights that start the look toward the rear of the vehicle. The signature and elegant wheels which are multi-spoked along with chrome plated exhaust ports offer the final touch of sophistication to this high class entry level sedan.

For the base model C300, the standard equipment offered includes dual-zone climate control, keyless starting and a touchpad operated multimedia interface not to mention the bevy of awesome materials and controls that are included. A rearview camera is added in the Multimedia package or as a stand- alone feature, but is not offered as a standard feature for the C300. The C400 adds a Burmester audio system, an adjustable suspension, torque-vectoring brakes and heated seats. In either model owners will enjoy some excellent equipment and controls that allow for some fantastic luxury enjoyment inside the C-Class.

The optional features offered are mostly bundled into packages, but some are offered as stand-alone features as well. The Interior Package adds leather upholstery, ventilated seats and multicolor LED ambient lighting while the Multimedia Package adds an 8.4-inch navigation screen, voice control and a ten-gigabyte music hard drive. Other features that can be added to the C-Class include the Airmatic suspension system and the cabin fragrance system to help make the ride more enjoyable and some excellent scents in the cabin. With all these excellent Mercedes-Benz options to add to the C-Class anyone can have a car that is exactly what they want.

The base model of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class starts out at a price of $41,325 for the C300. Add a few packages to this model and the price quickly comes out over $50,000 with the Premium, Multimedia, and Driver Assistance Packages added to this base model. Moving to the C400 the base price comes in around $49,515 but will still need to add about $2,300 to obtain the leather upholstery and ventilated seats. Regardless of the model that is purchased the C-Class makes a great choice at the entry level of luxury sedans for owners to enjoy and marvel at the awesome features included.
