2017 Genesis G80: New Name, Same Style

11.14.16 - Genesis G80

When a vehicle becomes so popular and successful in the market it can eventually become its own brand. That’s exactly what’s happened with the former Hyundai Genesis, which is now the Genesis G80 sedan. This new brand from Hyundai is the first example of a luxury brand from Korea that is expected to be successful in the US market to give us the models we want to enjoy on the road and the build we’ve been looking for. As the basis of the new brand, this car is named like other luxury models and gives us the ride we want and the build that will be able to compete in the midsize luxury market to be a great new addition.

Do you want a luxury sedan that offers you the room and power you need? Of course you do, and the new G80 can do this for you with no trouble at all. This sedan not only brings you the simplicity of room and power, but it also adds the features and amenities you want in order to feel like it is perfect for the ride. This car not only has everything you want for the drive, it has the protection you desire from the parent company with a 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain warrant and three years of complimentary scheduled maintenance for you to enjoy the ride.

Is this move by Hyundai a new feature in the automotive market? Not at all, both Honda and Toyota started with models that were filled with great luxury features in the 1980s that eventually became the luxury models that we love today of Lexus and Acura. This change for Hyundai has been a long time coming and is a great way for us to have a new lineup and new brands on the market to make it easy for us to enjoy the ride.

One of the most important changes to this new lineup and the fact that it actually is a luxury brand is the fact that many of the features that were originally optional are now standard on the G80. This means the new G80 comes standard with automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assistance to be a model that has everything you want to help keep you safe on the road. This car also comes with an in-cabin CO2 sensor that can help keep you from feeling effects if CO2 enters the cabin of your vehicle.

There are three main trims for this new G80, Standard, Premium and Ultimate. The Standard model offers you the active safety features, leather interior, power operated and heated front seats, rain sensing windshield wipers, the HomeLink garage door opener, a rearview camera, an auto dimming rearview mirror, an infotainment system that includes navigation and USB and auxiliary ports.

To start with, the G80 brings you two engine choices to help you have the ride you want to enjoy. The first is the 3.8-liter V6 engine that offers you 311 horsepower and 293 lb.-ft. of torque while being attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is used for both engines, giving you the smooth shifting and the right power for the ride. If you want more power you can move up it the 5.0-liter V8 which offers 420 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque to give you the strongest power you can have from the G80. The smaller powertrain can be built with an RWD setup while both of them are offered with AWD and the larger engine is only offered as AWD.

This new model from Genesis, which is a new brand, gives you a familiar feel when you drive in a car that you know well, but now can have more features for the base price than ever before. The transformation to Genesis as a brand and the offering of the G80 as the model you want to enjoy makes for a significant and impressive step for the Hyundai family of vehicles. If you loved you Genesis model in the past, you’ll love the new Genesis brand and the new G80 sedan that makes a huge difference in your driving enjoyment on the road.
