The Hyundai Kona enjoys an impressive redesign for 2024, making it a little more grown but still a practical small SUV for anyone to enjoy.

Practicality makes sense in a vehicle that’s right for your daily commute. The Kona is such an SUV, and it has all the ingredients necessary to be a great vehicle for everyday driving experiences. This little Hyundai SUV is efficient, practical, affordable, and even a little stylish, making it easy to choose when it’s time for your next commuter vehicle. Hyundai recently added a little more driving pleasure into this small SUV with the new N Line AWD model.

The Kona grew for 2024

The 2024 version of this small Hyundai SUV is longer than the previous model, receiving an additional six inches of body length. This length and the updated electronics add about $2,000 to the base price, but the Kona is still one of the most affordable vehicles in the entire market. In today’s market it’s hard to find any SUV for less than $30,000, but the Kona starts at a little more than $25,000, making it an easy option when you’re looking for an SUV that fits into your budget.

A new look for a grown-up Hyundai

The new Hyundai Kona sheds its juvenile appearance for a fresh look while maintaining its recognizable shape. This new version has a thin running light across the width of the front of the SUV. The Kona sheds its old grille and is replaced with active shutters to ensure better airflow into the engine chamber.

Going around to the rear, we see a sleek red running light across the entire rear, giving this SUV a modern appearance. The new N Line model adds a sporty appeal to this SUV with body-colored cladding and an attractive rear spoiler. This sporty version also receives N Line bumpers and wheels.

The right place for your commute

As attractive as the outside can be, the place you’ll spend your time during your commute is in the cabin. The new Kona brings a cabin that’s much nicer than before, making it easy to enjoy your drive to and from work every day. If you live in a cold climate, the heated seats will come in handy, as will the heated steering wheel. When it’s warmer outside, the ventilation feature of the front seats makes it easy to get cooler much faster.

Hyundai upgraded the dashboard of the new Kona. The old system is replaced with a pair of 12.3-inch screens under one large piece of glass, making it easy to see everything you need while driving. All passengers have access to USB-C connections to charge devices while out for a drive.

Hyundai moved the shifter to the steering column, which opens up space for a larger center console. This is an excellent way to give drivers more storage space for anything they normally carry on their person. Thankfully, physical climate controls are still part of the Kona, which makes it easy to change settings during your drive.

What does that additional length do for the Kona?

The increased length of the Kona gives it more rear-seat legroom and adds six cubic feet to the rear cargo space. Hyundai improved the rear seat legroom by reducing the thickness of the front seats by 30 percent. These added dimensions ensure the Kona is much more useful for most drivers than the previous generation.

How much power does this SUV offer?

The SE and SEL trims still use the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower. This engine is mated to a CVT, making the lower Hyundai Kona trims efficient on any road. The N Line and Limited models receive a stronger 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower. This turbocharged engine is now mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is an improvement over the previous model. Fuel mileage for the stronger powertrain is 24 city/29 hwy mpg, making it easy to save a bit of fuel while driving the Kona.
The wheels offered for this Hyundai SUV measure 17 and 18 inches for the lower trims, while the N Line and Limited models ride on 19-inch wheels.

The new Kona could be right for you

The new 2024 Hyundai Kona has a longer wheelbase, more cargo room, better rear-seat legroom, and upgraded tech features to make it much better than the previous generation. This SUV is more practical and useful for your daily commute and when you want to enjoy some time away from home during your weekend adventures.
