BMW is Getting in on the Chinese Regulations

BMW is certainly one of the brands that have been on sale in China and will adhere to the new regulations and sales numbers.

Automakers are being faced with a choice that actually isn’t much of a choice at all. For the future of driving in the Chinese market, and the sales of vehicles starting in the next couple of years, automakers are expected to either begin selling a specified percentage of hybrid or EV models or no longer participate in the Chinese automotive market.

Considering this market is the largest in the world by volume, those automakers that are currently selling vehicles in this area of the world have chosen to begin to develop and prepare to sell more EV and hybrid models to meet the stated numbers.

In the near future, BMW will offer a new electric SUV that will be offered in this market, which may hint at what we’ll see from the brand in the future. The next electric SUV from BMW will be the iX3 that will be built in China and is expected to begin production in 2020 to be a small and active SUV that we’re sure to admire.

Hinting at the Future of the BMW Lineup

Much the same way as the rest of the automotive market, BMW has stated they will have a large number of hybrid and EV models offered in the different markets around the world over the next several years. Recently, BMW released a teaser image of what the next BMW SUV that’s powered by electricity could look like and the name also appears to give us a feeling of a futuristic model that can be ideal for the drive desired.

This new SUV that’s only offered as an image thus far is being called the iNext and it appears to be about the same size as the current X5. The plan is to have the iNext offered on the market in 2021 to give the rest of the world the first EV SUV from BMW to be one that we want to experience on the roads in our area. Unlike the iX3, the iNext will be built in Germany, and it will offer a bit of a size upgrade and a variety of ranges to be used as the one that will be enjoyed in several markets.

Right now, BMW is reportedly developing several different battery packs for the iNext to offer a range from 280 to 435 miles of driving with power that ranges from 134 to 443 horsepower. There’s even a potential for 800 horsepower in what might be an M version of the iNext when it arrives. Will we see the iX3 offered in North America? What will the iNext look like when it’sdone? Both of these questions will be answered in the upcoming years to let us know what these incredible new vehicles could be when it’s offered by BMW.
