When you take a look at the stock version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk you would think there’s plenty of power for whatever you want to do and the drive that needs to be made. This amazing SUV is one that makes its power from the Hellcat engine which provides 707 horsepower from the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 engine under the hood. This incredible power output makes it possible for the Trackhawk to reach sixty mph in only 3.5 seconds, which is lightning fast, but maybe not fast enough for one group. Enter Hennessey…
Hennessey Performance has been known for many years to upgrade and improve power for the vehicles we love to drive. They took the 5,200 pound Jeep Grand Cherokee and added more to the engine to offer a higher number for the incredible drive you’ll want to see. Their feeling what the Trackhawk just wasn’t fast enough as it stood with the 707 ponies under the hood.

What Did Hennessey do to the Grand Cherokee?

The team at Hennessey added the HPE 1000 upgrade kit to the Trackhawk engine to add a larger 4.5-liter supercharger, a set of high-flow fuel injectors, long tube headers, an upgraded fuel pump, and a high flow air induction system. This list of features makes it possible for the 6.2-liter engine of the Trackhawk to make more power and be able to show off on the road with a lot more of what we want to enjoy. How much more power does this package create? The new layout of the SUV is able to give a full 1,012 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 969 lb.-ft. of torque at only 4,200 rpm.
When you take a look at the video below, you’ll get to see this amazing new model on the track as its being timed for the run to sixty mph. The claim from Hennessey is that this newly tuned up SUV can make the run to highway speeds in only 2.7 seconds and have the ability to complete the quarter mile run in 10.7 seconds at 132 mph. This makes for an incredible SUV that has the power and the performance that we’d only ever expect to get out of a sports car that’s built to cut through the air and take on the track challenges that are offered.
The only question that might be left when you see this incredible SUV is why Hennessey did this with an SUV, to which the answer is simply “why not?”
