Hero Receives New Toyota Truck

California is being ravaged by wildfires and this time these fires are engulfing towns and cities that are much closer to the coast than what we’ve seen in the past. The town of Paradise, CA has been completely destroyed by these wildfires and some of the people who were lucky enough to make it out of the way of these fires had to be rescued. A nurse in the area, named Allyn Pierce, was a hero that was able to get people out of the way of the fires to make sure they could get to the hospital.

The Damage to the Truck

As a hero of the area, Mr. Pierce drove his Toyota Tundra through the fire to get to the hospital to make sure the patients that could be evacuated from the area to be taken care of. On the way through the fires, he had some close calls and almost didn’t make it, but he was able to make it out alive, his patients survived, but the truck came out worse for the wear. The truck was able to get the job done, but the paint was scorched and the body panels and lights were melted on the truck.

Originally Stuck, He Made it Out

Pierce was originally stuck in the fires and he had to hold his coat against the truck window to insulate himself against the heat of the fires. He even took the time to record a goodbye message to his family before a bulldozer moved through and cleared a path that he could make it through and get to the hospital. At the hospital, he took care of his patients and worked to make sure they could be evacuated and cared for the way they needed to.

Toyota Recognizes Hero Allyn Pierce

The selfless acts of Mr. Pierce caught the attention of the Toyota team, especially his Instagram posts of the damage to his truck that he loved. This gave Toyota the perfect opportunity to recognize Allyn and offer him a new Toyota Tundra to replace the one that has been damaged by the fires in California. Their statement of thanks and humble appreciation remind us of how important it is to recognize those who go out of their way, put themselves in harm’s way, and work to save and care for those in need.

A Thanks from All

Certainly, Allyn Pierce isn’t the only hero in the area of the California wildfires. He’s one of many and as we get to hear more about the selfless acts of the people who have responded to the need, we can be extremely thankful for those who are willing to put themselves into the path of danger in order to take care of those of us who need help and are fighting for our lives, and those of our families. In a time of great disaster, those willing to help step up and save those of us that need it and we thank them for it.
