Ford’s Pro Fleet Vehicle Insights System Gets an Upgrade

The Ford Pro Fleet Vehicle Insights System Gets an Upgrade

The Ford Pro fleet management solutions system receives a litany of upgrades to further its expertise in the commercial industry.

The Ford Pro commercial solutions system, available at all commercial Ford dealers, allows fleet managers and coordinators to view important information and reference key insights regarding vehicles on the road. According to Ford Pro Integrated Services general manager Dave Prusinsk “Fleet managers have more to deal with than ever: managing fleets, maximizing uptime, and minimizing the risks of accidents to drivers, vehicles, and their business. Ford Pro Intelligence, now with video telematics, gives fleet managers more visibility and control over what’s happening inside the cabin and on the road. It’s like having a coach in the passenger seat.”

One of the major developments announced is Ford Pro Telematics with Dashcam. Using a windshield-mounted and cloud-connected dashcam, it can create recordings of both the road and inside the cabin. The exterior camera is an important tool, it’s able to capture potential accident footage and store it for use as evidence. It’s also able to capture road hazards that warrant harsh braking or evasive steering. The interior camera helps to keep tabs on drivers who may engage in inappropriate behavior such as using a cell phone or drinking. The camera will be activated automatically during events such as speeding, airbag deployment, or failure to wear a seatbelt.

Another piece of tech receiving an upgrade is the Upfit Integration System (UIS). Its purpose is to eliminate the need to upfit commercial vehicles with third-party accessories such as auxiliary switches or secondary control panels. Vehicle Motion Inhibit Control will make its debut in the UIS system soon, which will prevent vehicles from being shifted out of gear when equipment such as cranes or lifts are in operation.

Fleet Start Inhibit will allow fleet managers and coordinators to remotely disable a fleet vehicle if the vehicle is started without permission. They can also create a schedule for allowing vehicles to start which can greatly reduce the risk of off-hours theft. Using the Vehicle Security app, fleet vehicles can also remotely trigger vehicle alarms and create security alerts.

Ford has included embedded modems on fleet vehicles as standard equipment since 2020. These embedded modems are the key to activating and utilizing these Ford Pro features. A great example of the embedded modem and features in action came from a company based out of California that had all of its tools stolen from its Ford work truck. The Ford Pro team activated the onboard telematics and was able to quickly locate the vehicle, saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. Dwight Delgado, Ford Pro Intelligence sales manager, states “Ford Pro Telematics really saved the day for our commercial customer. The customer was so impressed, they decided to connect their entire fleet of vehicles to Ford Pro Telematics.”

Ford owns work and offers only the best vehicles and tools for the job. With Ford Pro, your fleet is in good hands.
