Kia’s most talked-about design study just gave away a small secret. Tucked inside an official video about how the Vision Meta Turismo came together, a second scale model sits on a studio desk wearing a much longer roof than the car everyone has been fawning over.

Next to the coupe-style sedan sits a version with a reworked roofline that reads as a futuristic shooting brake. The greenhouse is the obvious giveaway, but a few smaller details differ from the final concept as well. What stays the same is telling. Same wheels, same overall dimensions. That’s not a random doodle. That’s a parallel idea developed far enough to sit alongside the hero car.

Kia hasn’t built a full-size prototype of the long-roof version, and it may never move past early ideation. Still, its presence in an official video confirms the design team never limited its grand touring vision to a single bodystyle.

A Sports Sedan Aimed at the Gamer Generation

The creative team explained the brief behind the whole project, and it’s an unusual one. Designers were asked to imagine a performance sedan built for what Kia calls the gamer generation, meaning drivers who move easily between digital and physical spaces. Kia’s official overview connects that idea to its Vision Meta Turismo design philosophy.

That thinking shows up inside. The cabin includes a removable retro gaming console mounted to the side of the dashboard. There are four individual seats, with the driver’s chair styled differently from the other three. Materials lean organic and sustainable, including silk and wood. The team also credited a cab-forward layout for opening up interior room without ruining the proportions, which is the trick every low-slung car has to pull off somehow.

Why a Long Roof Would Actually Make Sense

If Kia ever green-lights the shooting brake, the practical upside is easy to see. Extra headroom for rear passengers. Better cargo capacity behind the second row. And it keeps the dramatic, low-slung look that makes the sedan worth staring at in the first place.

It would also put Kia back in the estate segment, which the brand stepped away from after the Ceed SW and the closely related ProCeed were discontinued in markets including Europe. An electric wagon with GT proportions would be a rare thing right now, and rare tends to get noticed.

Sedans in general have taken a beating over the past decade, yet shoppers who still want a low, comfortable four-door haven’t disappeared. Anyone cross-shopping Toyota sedans, a Honda Accord or a used Stinger knows how much the four-door aisle has narrowed. A car like the Meta Turismo, in either shape, would give that group something new to think about.

How Close Is Any of This to Reality

The Vision Meta Turismo first appeared in December 2025, then made public stops at Milan Design Week and the Busan International Mobility Show during spring 2026. It’s been pitched as the spiritual heir to the Stinger, trading that car’s twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 for a fully electric powertrain.

Kia hasn’t committed to building it. But Global Design Chief Karim Habib and Europe Design Boss Oliver Samson have both said engineering feasibility work is happening. The sticking point is the business case. Halo cars are hard to justify on a spreadsheet, and Kia’s recent EV pricing strategy shows why the numbers must work before a concept this ambitious gets a production line.

What to Watch for Next

Keep an eye on whether Kia shows the shooting brake again. Concepts that appear once in a background shot usually stay there. Concepts that get a second airing, a full-size model or a name of their own tend to be headed somewhere. For now, the sedan is the one with momentum, and its long-roof sibling is a very good idea waiting to see if anyone signs off on it.
