Nissan Trucks Breakdown

There are three Nissan pickup models available at Nissan dealerships now: Frontier, Titan, and Titan XD. These trucks give you Nissan capabilities and qualites.

The midsize Nissan Frontier is excellent at truck stuff, but not the best for everyday driving. The full-size Nissan Titan is powerful and civilized, and finally, there’s the Titan XD that offers a nice ride quality and decent towing ability. Let’s take a closer look.

Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier is a midsize truck for truck people. It comes in a long list of different trims and layouts, with choices between 2WD and 4WD, King Cab and Crew Cab, Long Bed, Short Bed, and regular bed. And that doesn’t even include all the different trim levels. In other words, you can get your Nissan Frontier exactly how you want it. Base models start in the $33,000 range and go up to the $46,000 range for the top trim with 4WD and a Crew Cab.

The pros of the Nissan Frontier include its rugged design, the retro Hardbody model, and confident towing. The drawbacks for the Frontier are mainly that it’s not the most civilized everyday truck, it lacks many driver assist features, and its fuel economy is below average for the segment.

Nissan Titan

The Nissan Titan doesn’t come in as many variations as the Frontier. It has Crew Cab and King Cab layouts, but no extra bed choices. The base 2WD Crew Cab SV trim starts at just under $50,000, and the highest Platinum Reserve trim with 4WD starts at just under $67,000. As a full-size truck, the Titan offers decent towing ability of up to 9,350 pounds. Its fuel economy is unsurprisingly low at 21 MPG on the highway.

The main benefits of the Nissan Titan include its powerful, standard V8 engine, a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission, and a generous list of driver assistance features. The main drawbacks to the Titan include its low towing ability compared to rivals, somewhat boring interior, and rough ride. The Nissan Titan will be disappearing from Nissan dealerships after the 2024 model year as the automaker is discontinuing it.

Nissan Titan XD

Compared to the other two trucks, the Titan XD comes in the least amount of trims yet. Its base trim is the SV 4WD Crew Cab and the top trim is the Platinum Reserve 4WD Crew Cab. In the middle is the off-road-oriented PRO-4X 4WD Crew Cab. The Titan XD ranges in fair market price from $55,000 to $70,000. The max towing and payload of the Titan XD outranks the regular Titan with 10,900 pounds and 2,232 pounds respectively.

Like the regular Nissan Titan, the Titan XD will be discontinued after the 2024 model year. Its pros and cons are similar to the regular Titan as well, but it does have a better ride and feels more stable when towing. For the newest Titan XD, the main drawback is the lack of a more affordable base model.

Nissan dealerships will most assuredly keep stocking used models of the Nissan Titan even after they’ve been discontinued. However, for the 2025 model year, the Nissan Frontier will be the only new option.
