What are the fastest Cadillacs ever made? Although the Cadillac brand is well-known for luxury and not speed, there have actually been some speedy models.
When you think of the Cadillac brand, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t blistering speed, track-focused models, or incredible performance. Strangely, this luxury brand has built several high-speed models over its long history. Before we saw the Escalade-V or some of the current Blackwing models, there were several others that fit the bill as some of the fastest models to ever wear this name. Here are seven that top the charts for you.
Cadillac V-LMDh
The absolute fastest Cadillac in the world is the V-LMDh. This is the Project GTP race car that was shown off last summer and made its debut on the track during the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January. This car brings a top speed of 215 mph to the track, giving it the distinct honor of being the fastest car to ever wear the brand name. This isn’t the first racing machine to ever come from the Cadillac team, but it’s the car that now tops the charts with the fastest top speed.
Cadillac DPi-V.R
This previous Cadillac racing machine delivers a top speed of 210 mph, making it second on this list. The DPi-V.R is the Cadillac that’s been on the track a lot when it began competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in North America back in 2017. This car marked the return of the Cadillac name to sports car racing. During its time on the track, the DPi-V.R was a strong competitor and took on others with a high-tech small block V8 engine powering this incredible racing machine.
Cadillac Northstar LMP
Cadillac offered a series of Le Mans prototypes called the Northstar LMP. This was one of the fastest Cadillac cars ever made, with a top speed of over 200 mph and lots of racing prowess in its veins. This car marked a return to the track for the Cadillac brand, which hadn’t had a car in the Le Mans series since 1950. This car, as it’s named, is powered by a Northstar V8 engine and uses a body design made for pure racing speed while offering impressive aerodynamics.
Cadillac Cien
The Cadillac Cien looked like a massive saloon with large dimensions and an impressive profile. The Cien was too expensive to be more than a concept vehicle, but it brought something that had been gone from this luxury car brand for many years. The Cien was powered by a longitudinally mounted 60-degree 7.5-liter V12 engine that could produce 750 horsepower and offer a top speed of 200 mph. The Cien engine was experimental, utilizing direct injection and displacement on demand, which allowed the engine to utilize various numbers of pistons during the drive.
2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
One of the current Cadillac models makes it into the list of the fastest models to ever come from this brand. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 668 horsepower and a top speed of 200 mph. This is truly a sleeper car, showing up as a luxurious four-door sedan that delivers the power desired. This is a car that brings a lot of fun to the mix and has become a top model for the brand.
Cadillac Sixteen
The Sixteen name was for the sixteen pistons under the hood of the V-16 engine. This car showed a futuristic engine technology that enabled it to turn pistons on and off depending on the number required. Drivers could use as few as four pistons or the whole shooting match and have more than 1,000 horsepower on tap. The Cadillac Sixteen offers a top speed of over 190 mph, which is pretty good considering this is a heavy luxury coupe that requires a lot of power to get going.
Cadillac Ciel
One of the best concept cars to ever come out of the Cadillac brand was the Ciel. This concept brought a strong 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged direct injection V6 that produced 425 horsepower. This power was aided by a hybrid system that allowed the Cadillac Ciel to reach 174 mph. This makes it one of the fastest Cadillacs ever built. The Ciel was the sedan, and a coupe called the Elmiraj was also made to add a bit more coolness to the mix and give you a fast Caddy.
These seven cars show how fast a Cadillac can be when it has all of the power and performance required to hit some top speeds.
